How to Flash an Xbox 360
X box 360 flashen
Would you want to play burnt games on your Xbox 360? To be able to play backups, you must first update your Xbox 360’s DVD drive using modified firmware. This will enable the drive to read burnt CDs, and appropriate flashing will still allow you to login to Xbox Live. The flashing procedure differs significantly depending on the kind of DVD drive you have.
1. Obtaining the DVD Drive
1. You need update your Xbox. Before you begin dismantling and flashing, make sure your Xbox 360 has been recently updated. This is because the flashing software has been intended to function with the most recent updates, and you may encounter difficulties if your Xbox 360 is not up to date.
- More information about upgrading your Xbox 360 may be found in this guide.
2. Start the Xbox 360. To flash the DVD drive, you must first remove it from the Xbox 360. You will need to remove the Xbox’s outer panel to do this.
- For extensive instructions on opening your Xbox 360 casing, see this page.
3. Take out the DVD drive. Pull the DVD drive gently out of the Xbox. Make cautious not to yank on the cords connecting the drive to the Xbox’s circuitry.
4. Unplug the drive. After removing the drive, unplug the two cords that link the drive to the Xbox. You should now be able to fully remove the drive from the console.
5. Determine the manufacturer of the DVD drive. Your Xbox 360 might be utilizing one of four distinct DVD drive manufacturers. Some drives may need the use of more tools than others. Examine the drive’s sticker to determine its identity. You simply need to know the manufacturer to choose which tools and processes you will use.
- Lite-On, Samsung, BenQ, and Hitachi are the four manufacturers.
2. Setting up JungleFlasher
1. Get the flashing software. To flash your disk, you must first download the necessary software. JungleFlasher is an application that is particularly developed to flash Xbox 360 disks. JungleFlasher is available for free download from the developer’s website.
- You’ll also need your drive’s firmware files. The iXtreme LT+ 3.0 firmware files are available for download from the iXtreme website. For legal reasons, JungleFlasher does not included with these files. These firmware files alter the operation of the Xbox 360 DVD drive, enabling you to install custom software.
- If you’re flashing a Hitachi drive, you’ll also need to get the iXtreme LT+ 3.0 Hitachi files.
2. Unzip the JungleFlasher archive. After installing JungleFlasher, move the folder to a convenient spot on your computer. To use JungleFlasher, you do not need to install anything. If you save the JungleFlasher folder to your desktop or the root of your hard drive, it will be easier to access throughout the flashing process.
3. Transfer the firmware files to the JungleFlasher directory. Once JungleFlasher has been extracted, extract the ZIP containing the iXtreme LT+ 3.0 firmware files. Open the extracted folder, followed by the Firmware folder. Copy all of the files into the JungleFlasher directory’s Firmware folder.
4. Copy the required DLL files. Navigate to the JungleFlasher directory, then to the libusb folder. Copy the libusb0.dll file from this folder and paste it into the JungleFlasher root directory, which is also where the JungleFlasher.exe software is stored.
- Copy both files to the JungleFlasher root directory after opening the PortIO folder.
3. Connecting the Hard Disk Drive to Your Computer
1. Collect your supplies. To connect your DVD drive to your computer so that it can be flashed, you will need the following tools:
- DVD Power-to-Molex converter (Xecuter X360USB, X360USBPro) USB Connector tool (Xecuter CK3 Lite). If you’re using the Xecuter X360USB tool, this isn’t necessary since it’s already built in. This adapter is required if you are using the X360USBPro utility.
- Look into it (TX CK3 PROBE 3, TX SPUTNIK360 UNLOCK PROBE, MAXIMUS 360 SCORPION TOOL V2). Only the Lite-On drive requires this. This utility is not required for any other DVD drive.
- Molex-to-outlet power adapter (Molex to USB works as well)
2. Take apart your Lite-On DVD drive. If you are flashing a Lite-On DVD drive, you must remove the protective cover in order to access the circuitry. Turn the drive over and unscrew the four screws that keep the panel in place. To reveal the circuitry, remove the panel.
- This is only required for Lite-On drives. You may skip this step if you’re using another drive.
3. The USB connection tool must be powered on. If you’re using the Xecuter X360USB tool, connect the Molex cable to the USB tool’s Molex adaptor, then to the Molex-to-outlet adapter. Using the usual power cable, connect the USB tool to the DVD drive (unless you are flashing a Lite-On, in which case refer to the next step). If you’re using the X360USBPro, connect the CK3 Lite to the DVD drive using the power cable, then to the outlet with the Molex-to-outlet converter.
4. Join the probe (Lite-On only). Connect the probe cable to the USB connection as well as the drive. Connect the push button end of the cable to the power connection on the DVD drive. Connect the opposite end of the cord to the USB port.
- Connect the probe piece to the little wire that protrudes from the probe cable. The probe should illuminate.
5. Connect the SATA cable to the DVD drive from the USB connection. This enables data to be transferred from your computer to the DVD drive.
6. Connect the USB connection to your computer. Connect the connection to a free USB port on your computer. A USB hub should not be used since it will not deliver adequate power. If you can’t reach a port, you can use an extension cord. When hooked into the computer, more lights should display on the USB port.
4. Performing a Drive Flash
