Sims 2 more than 8 sims mod

The Sims 2 restricts players to eight Sims per family by default; however, this restriction may be circumvented. This wikiHow teaches you how to live on a lot with more than eight Sims in The Sims 2.

1. Making Use of Mods

1. Install a mod that enables you to have more than eight Sims per lot. There are two common modifications that enable this, so choose your favorite.

  • Larger Households in the 5th LMNt and Numenor
  • CJ’s Extended Families

2. Put the mod in the Sims 2 Downloads folder. Documents > EA Games > The Sims 2 > Downloads is where you’ll find it on Windows.

  • If you’re using a Mac to play the Super Collection, the file path is Library > Containers > com.aspyr.sims2.appstore > Data > Library > Application Support > Aspyr > The Sims 2 > Downloads.
  • It’s a good idea to create a subdirectory in your Downloads folder called “Mods” or “Hacks,” and label it “Mods” or “Hacks” to keep it distinct from any other custom material you may have.

3. If you want to consolidate pre-existing households, make changes to your userstartup file. If you wish to unite existing households, you must take an additional step before beginning your game.

  • Open Documents > EA Games > The Sims 2 > Config. (For the Super Collection, go to Library > Containers > com.aspyr.sims2.appstore > Data > Library > Application Support > Aspyr > The Sims 2 > Config.
  • Look for a file called userstartup.cheat and open it in Notepad or TextEdit. If you don’t have one, create a new file in Notepad or TextEdit.
  • Add the line uintprop maxTotalSims 50.
  • Add the line uintprop maxTotalHumans 35.
  • Add the line uintprop maxTotalPets 15.
  • Save your userstartup.cheat file. (Make sure there’s no file extension tacked on at the end.)

Tip: You may adjust the maxTotal values, but the combination of maxTotalHumans and maxTotalPets must equal maxTotalSims.

4. Begin the game. Allow time for the game to load.

5. Turn on custom content. A window will appear informing you that you have modifications installed in your game; towards the bottom of the dialog, select the option for “Enable custom content.”

  • For the modifications to take effect, you must restart your game.

6. Enter a family. You should now be able to add additional Sims to the home, even if it currently has eight Sims.

  • For the adjustments to take effect, you may need to transfer the family out and back into their home.
