How to Set Up a Xbox 360 Controller on Project64
Project 64 xbox controller profile
Project 64 xbox one controller – This will show you how to configure an Xbox 360 controller for usage with the Project64 emulator on a Windows PC. To make this work, you must have either a hard-wired Xbox 360 controller or a Microsoft wireless adaptor.
Preparing to Set Up
1. Unplug your Xbox 360 console. If you have an Xbox 360 within connection range, disconnect it from its power supply to avoid mistakenly connecting your controller to the console.
2. Check to see whether you have a wired controller. To utilize an Xbox 360 controller on Project64 without an adapter, the controller must be powered by a non-removable cable.
- You cannot use a “plug and charge” cable at this location.
- You’ll need to get a Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver if you wish to utilize a wireless controller. If this is the case, ensure that the receiver is from Microsoft rather than a third-party vendor.
3. Connect your controller to the computer. The controller’s cable should be able to fit into one of your computer’s USB ports.
If you’re using a wireless receiver, connect it into a USB port and check for a green light on it. If the receiver’s LED does not illuminate when inserted into a “powered” USB port, try an alternative USB port.
4. Wait for the drivers to download completely. When you connect in your controller or receiver, Windows will hunt for and download software to assist your computer in using the controller. This should just take a few minutes, following which you’ll be notified that your controller is ready to use.
This procedure will not be able to begin unless you have an Internet connection.
5. Please connect your controller. If you’re using a wired controller, you may skip this step. Turn on the controller by pushing and holding the Guide button, which is the Xbox logo in the centre of the controller, and then pressing the “Connect” button on the front of the controller.
When the Guide button on the controller stops flashing, your controller is linked to the computer.
Setting up the Controller
1. Launch Project64. Double-click the Project64 program icon, which looks like a green, stylised “PJ” next to a little red “64.”
2. Select Options. This tab is located at the very top of the window. There will be a drop-down menu.
3. Click the Configure Controller Plugin button…. It may be found at the bottom of the drop-down menu. This brings up the controller settings panel.
4. Look for a picture of a controller. If you see a huge picture of a controller in the center of the page, your controller is visible on Project64; otherwise, restart Project64.
If restarting Project64 does not resolve the issue, restart your computer and then attempt to connect again.
5. Modify the controls. To map an action to a different controller button, click the action’s name to the left of the keyboard button, then hit the controller button you wish to use for that action.
6. Remember to save your controller setup. At the top of the window, click Save Profile, then provide a name for the setting and click Save. You may reload the stored settings by returning to the Configure Controller Plugin… menu, selecting Load Profile, and double-clicking the saved settings file.
It’s a good idea to store your controller’s profile as something recognizable (for example, the name of the game in which you wish to utilize the controller’s special controls).
