How to Tag People on Facebook

1. Launch the Facebook app. It has a blue app icon with a white f on it.

3. Someone has been tagged in a post. To do so:

  • Tap the status update prompt at the top of your Newsfeed or Timeline to begin a new post. It will say something like, “What’s on your mind…?” or “Would you want to provide an update…?”
  • Select Tag People. It’s at the bottom of the screen, close to a blue figure. If you don’t see this option, enter the menu of choices by tapping Add to your post underneath the message prompt.
  • Select Who are you with? at the very top of the screen
  • Alternatively, touch a name from the “SUGGESTIONS” list on the screen.
  • Begin entering a person’s name.
  • When the name of the person you want to tag displays on the screen, tap it. If you wish to tag more than one person, type their names and tap them.
  • When you’re done, tap Done in the upper-right corner. The button on Android may be labeled Next.
  • Write a remark and then press the Post button in the upper-right corner. Your post will be visible on your Timeline, and the other person will be notified that you tagged them in a post.

4. By inputting their name, you may tag someone. Begin a post or leave a comment on another post, picture, or video to do so.

  • Begin entering a name anywhere in the post or comment. As you write, Facebook will give recommendations.
  • Alternatively, before entering a name, type @. This informs Facebook that you want to tag someone in your post or remark.

1. In a Web browser, go to http://www.facebook.com.
